The Auto Bavaria Balakong showroom, the first flagship store to fully adopt the BMW Retail.NEXT concept in the Klang Valley, shoulders the mission of redefining the luxury automotive retail experience. The success of this multi-brand facility relies not only on its avant-garde architectural design but also on the ability of its lighting to precisely convey the essence of both the BMW and MINI brands. To this end, Lavov Lighting was commissioned to execute this complex lighting project, aiming for a perfect balance between maximum vehicle visual impact, customer comfort, and distinct brand identity.
The core challenge of this project lay in managing light contrast and color fidelity across the facility's diverse environments. For the vehicle display areas, the lighting had to achieve photographic quality, requiring an extremely high Color Rendering Index (CRI > 90). Through precise beam control, the lighting needed to highlight the deep paint finishes, sleek lines, and refined interiors of the latest BMW luxury sedans and classic heritage models, all while strictly avoiding any glare that might detract from the viewing experience. Simultaneously, all lighting solutions had to be seamlessly integrated into the modern, dark open-grid ceiling structure to maintain the overall architectural simplicity and style.
The solution provided by Lavov Lighting was a comprehensive zonal strategy. In the main Vehicle Display Floors, high-output LED Track Lights were deployed, whether showcasing the newest BMW models or treasured classics. These fixtures offer maximum flexibility, allowing for continuous adjustment of beam angles and intensity to suit ever-changing vehicle layouts. This high-CRI illumination ensures the accurate rendering of paint finishes and design details, transforming the classic car display area into a gallery-like space imbued with a sense of history.

Beyond product accentuation, ambient lighting for customer experience areas was equally crucial. In the BMW Welcome and Lounge Area, the focus shifted to comfort and visual appeal. This space features a coffee bar, soft seating, and vibrant rugs, where Lavov Lighting utilized decorative pendant lights as visual anchors—such as conical metal shades and modern abstract sculptural pendants—to create a warm, inviting glow. The coffee bar and functional zones are supported by recessed downlights and integrated linear lighting beneath the counter, which not only serve practical purposes but also subtly highlight the texture of materials like marble.
More challenging was the MINI Experience Zone, which required establishing a brand personality distinct from BMW's reserved style. Here, Lavov Lighting introduced more playful and individualistic lighting installations, such as the unique abstract sculptural pendant above the main seating area, adding a touch of artistry and whimsy to the space. Concurrently, to highlight high-value merchandise like apparel and accessories in the MINI Lifestyle Boutique, this area was equipped with narrow-beam LED spotlights, ensuring clear visibility of product details to attract customer attention.
