Innovative Lighting Design for a Bookcafe in China, Integrating a Unique Salt Therapy Experience

Lavov has successfully completed a façade and exterior lighting design project for a unique book house in Jiangxi, China. This project aimed to create a modern, book-centric, warm, inviting, and dramatic atmosphere within the bookcafe through meticulous lighting design, thereby enhancing the overall appeal and functionality of the space.

The core concept of this design proposal was to combine "Modern Minimalism" with a "Book-centric" approach, while simultaneously creating "Warm Inviting" and "Dramatic Lighting" effects, and integrating "Wooden Accents". Lavov extensively studied the architectural structure and internal spatial layout, tailoring innovative lighting solutions for both the bookcafe’s exterior facade and various interior zones.

Notably, this bookcafe not only offers reading spaces but also introduces a unique salt therapy service. Salt therapy is a wellness method that utilizes the physical and chemical properties of salt. Through inhaling salt micro-particles or immersing oneself in a salt-rich environment, it can contribute to improving respiratory health, promoting skin well-being, aiding in stress relief, and enhancing overall health. Lavov's lighting design, while cultivating a reading ambiance, also fully considered the needs of the salt therapy areas, using warm and soft lighting to help create an ultimately relaxing, holistic cultural and healing space for mind and body.

For the facade and exterior lighting, the design team implemented a precise lighting layout to ensure the bookcafe emanates an enchanting glow even at

night. Specifically, fixtures such as 86.OB12.1311.03 3000K 20W inground lights and 86.DIN7.1331.03 3000K 3W spotlights were used to highlight the architectural contours and guide visual flow. Concurrently, LED neon strips (86.LN04.1300.90) with a 3000K color temperature and 555lm output were installed along walkways and building edges, mounted with aluminum bendable tracks, to create soft and continuous lines.

Inside the bookcafe, Lavov's lighting design is equally ingenious. The ceiling features 86.LN04.1400 model 4000K LED strips at a density of 320LED/m, provid

ing uniform illumination. Book shelves utilize 4.8W 4000K LED strips with special aluminum profiles, ensuring books are clearly visible while fostering a warm reading ambiance. The bar top and bar counter also feature dedicated luminaires (86.LN031.2421 4000K 4W and 86.LN011300.90 3000K 9.6W respectively), providing both functional and decorative lighting. Furthermore, the skylight beams cleverly integrate 86.LN011400.90 model 4000K 9.6W bendable LED strips, leveraging a combination of natural and artificial light to enhance the sense of openness and layering within the space.

This project not only demonstrates Lavov’s professional expertise in lighting design but also successfully integrates technology and art, creating a unique and memorable space for reading, socializing, and holistic well-being for the Jiangxi Bookcafe.
